OLP is pleased to announce the Eighth Annual Run For Peace on Sunday, April 27, 2014 at 9:15 AM. The run is a 5K course that begins on the church grounds, continues west onto Shaker Blvd to MLK Drive, turns around at St. Andrew Benedictine Abbey, and returns to Our Lady of Peace. Walkers as well as runners are invited to participate in this non competitive event. There will also be a Tot Trot, a run/walk designed for children on a much shorter course. Entrance fees are $15 for 5K participants and $5 for the Tot Trot. All participants will receive a Run for Peace t-shirt. The shortest time runner will received $100 and the second shortest time runner $50
This year's Run will once again be an opportunity for the neighborhood to come together, with people cheering the runners and walkers along the route. Students and you young parishioners have been among the most enthusiastic participants. The students especially enjoy the interaction with the Cleveland Police, who once again will very generously lend their support and officers to help with the event.
Over the past eight years, the Run for Peace has raised over $80,000 to support the mission of Our Lady of Peace Church - especially its mission to educate and form young men and women of faith and to serve the Lord in the least of his sisters and brothers. Our Lady of Peace serves not only the parish community, but the neighborhood as well. The parish offers numerous social services and a food pantry for the hungry of our neighborhood and city.
Registration on April 27 begins at 8:15 am. After the run, participants and supporters are invited to enjoy coffee and pastries at the Parish Hall. Participants can register or sponsor in advance on line - by using the links on this page or by visiting www.olpchurch.com - or by emailing Father Gary Chmura at [email protected]or Run Chairperson Jim Cullen at [email protected]
